PASTOR JOHN PAUL VILLASPIR

Personal Information:
My name is Rogelio S. Requiso, and I am currently serving as the pastor of Lasam Christian Baptist Church. I was born on April 14, 1975 in Santa Marcela, Apayao, Philippines. At the age of 12, I received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, a decision that set the course for my life and ministry. Over the years, my passion for serving God and His people has only deepened. I have been in ministry for 24 years, with a heart committed to spreading the Gospel and shepherding God's flock.

Family Information:
I am blessed with a loving family that has been a vital part of my ministry journey. My wife, Jonalyn Javier Requiso, born in Buguey, Cagayan, Philippines, on June 17, 1981, has been a steadfast partner in ministry, offering unwavering support through the challenges and joys of serving God. Now 43 years old, she continues to be an incredible source of strength and guidance. Together, we have raised two children—Farell Requiso, my oldest son, born on August 5, 2001, and Heaven Requiso, our youngest child, born on February 27, 2005. Both are growing in their faith and actively involved in the ministry.
Personal Testimony
I was 12 years old when I first accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. This life-changing moment came through the loving guidance of my Sunday school teacher during our Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS). The experience sparked a deep commitment in me to grow in faith, and I continued to attend regular church services and engage in church activities, such as youth camps, all of which played a key role in nurturing my spiritual life.
As I moved into my high school years, I felt a growing sense of calling on my life. During my final year of high school, I made the decision to fully surrender my life to God and pursue Bible school to prepare myself for full-time ministry. This decision has shaped the course of my life in ways I could never have imagined.
After graduating from Bible college in 1999, I was blessed to begin my pastoral journey at Buguey Baptist Church, where I served with joy and dedication until 2001.
In 2002, I was called to Lasam Christian Baptist Church, where I have had the privilege to serve ever since. It has been an incredible 24 years in ministry, filled with growth, learning, and countless blessings. The first ten years of my ministry were focused on outreach, home Bible studies, evangelism, and making visitations both near and far within our community. Through these efforts, God worked powerfully to touch lives and draw people closer to Him.
A pivotal moment in our ministry came in February 2013, on our 11th year of service. After years of faithful work, Lasam Christian Baptist Church was officially organized, marking a major milestone in our ministry’s journey. As we approach our 12th church anniversary this coming February 19, with the theme "The Faithful God" (Deuteronomy 7:9), I am humbled by how far we have come. It has been a journey filled with trials and tribulations, but through every challenge, we have seen the undeniable hand of God at work. It has been a testament to His faithfulness, grace, and mercy that we have not only endured but thrived despite the hardships we’ve faced.
There were many times when we encountered seemingly insurmountable obstacles, but God’s abounding love and constant presence carried us through. Whether it was facing financial difficulties, dealing with personal struggles, or experiencing moments of doubt, we have seen time and again how God has remained faithful to us. It has been by His strength alone that my family and I have been able to continue in this ministry, persevering even during the toughest of times.
As we reflect on all that God has done, we are filled with gratitude and awe. We are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to serve in His kingdom, and we look forward with faith and hope to the years ahead. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Lord for His sustaining grace and for allowing us to continue in ministry. None of this would be possible without His guidance and provision.
